The Vranas Estate is a limited reserve single varietal olive oil with exceptionally low acidity at bottling time, produced exclusively for GAEA from hand-picked olives that are “cold-pressed” immediately after harvesting in a privately owned mill. The “Agrielia” (wild olive) variety used to produce this olive oil is unique to the northeast Aegean Sea and one of the most sought after cultivars of Lesvos, an island recognized since ancient times as one of the greatest olive oil producing territories in Greece. Part of the proceeds from the sale of this olive oil goes for the support of the Vranas Olive Press Museum located within the estate.
Taste: harmonious and elegant, delicate in the tones of ripely fruity. It has a balanced bitter and pungent content closing with a tomato leaf and greenly fruity aftertaste.
Aroma: excellent overall sensation; tomato leaf, vigourous and persistent, dominate, followed by greenly fruity sensation. Weaker sensations of apple, freshly mown grass, green and ripely fruity add refinement and complexity.
Pairing Suggestions: salads, grilled meat or fish, pasta, soups and sweets. Excellent for dressing on top of raw vegetables and drizzling cooked dishes.
